Slow Cooker Orange Glazed Carrots

Slow Cooker Orange Glazed Carrots

These slow cooker orange glazed carrots are sweetened by brown sugar and honey, infused with citrus, and seasoned with warm spices. They are the perfect vegetable side dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas or just for a simple dinner with the fam.

I wanted to try a new veggie side last year for Thanksgiving, so I decided to go for a new glazed carrot recipe. We already have a honey roasted carrot recipe on the blog, but I wanted something that could be done in the slow cooker. I’m all about keeping the oven as free as possible on Thanksgiving!

These ended up being such a hit with my kiddos that I just knew they’d be great for any Sunday dinner or even Easter dinner! They usually turn their noses up at cooked carrots, but they gobbled these right up!

How to Make Our Glazed Carrot Recipe

This is the ultimate set it and forget it recipe. You simply combine all the ingredients for the glaze (brown sugar, honey, orange juice, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt) in the slow cooker. Then add the carrots and fold them in. Cook for 3-4 hours on low. Whisk the cornstarch and water together then add it to the slow cooker and stir. Then cook for another 1-2 hours until the carrots are tender (not mushy, please!).

Can I Use Regular Carrots?

I know there are baby carrot haters out there, so yes, you can definitely use regular carrots. I usually just use whatever I have in the fridge. Peel 2 pounds of regular carrots and just cut them into about 1 inch chunks. Then proceed with the instructions as written. You can cut them a little thinner if you want them to cook faster.
