The Little Things Newsletter #274 – Life, laughter, and lots of great food!

Welcome to the weekend, my friends! It’s been a glorious week here in Ohio filled with day-to-day work and life routine as we’ve settled back into being at home. I’m excited for the kids to start school again on Monday and settle into that routine again as well. As much as I love traveling, there is simply nothing better than being home.

ON THE BLOG this week: This simple Beer and Garlic Chicken Marinade has become a staple in our house over the past few years. Juicy, incredibly flavorful grilled chicken is easier than you might think; especially when it starts with a marinade loaded with flavor from beer, garlic, and a sprinkling of herbs.

Dark Chocolate Toffee Cookies are crispy, chewy cookies with a deep chocolate flavor, toffee crunch, and gooey chocolate chips. If I do say so myself, this recipe was some brilliant recipe inspiration, because the deep chocolate cookies paired with toffee bits is a winner of a cookie combination.

If you want a sneak peek at next week’s eats, you’re going to want to get your hands on as many summer tomatoes as possible. Trust me. I’ve had a whole lot of fun playing in the kitchen this week and can hardly wait to share these new recipes with you!

What I’m CRAVING: Like most almond lovers, I have a weakness for frangipane tarts. This Pear Frangipane Tart is not only beautiful, but it sounds delicious as can be.

My FAVORITE THING this week is my new pillow! First of all, I have no idea what in these pillows qualifies as “gel” but oh my word, they are so comfortable! They are the perfect combo of soft and firm. I love these pillows so much I just ordered a second set – because YAY they’re on sale and my guest bed needed new pillows too!

What I’m READING: Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life by Nick Vujicic. I’ve probably mentioned before, that as a rule, I don’t read a whole lot of self-help or inspirational type of books. However, there is often an exception to most rules, right?

Born without arms or legs, Nick tells the story of his physical disabilities and the emotional battles he endured while growing up and learning to deal with them. Throughout his writing, Nick offers encouragement by showing how he learned to accept what he could not control and focus instead on what he could. His story is beyond inspirational and made me smile many times as I was reading the book.

“Home is the nicest word there is.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
