This is one of those crazy old recipes that we’ve been making since our oldest daughter was about 2 years old, my goodness, did I tell you she just turned 16? Does anyone read these blog posts? Do you have kids and do you feel what I feel? Time is slipping and have I brought about enough first times, memories, moments, traditions? I can’t look back and wonder, but you’d better believe I’m looking forward and making time. That’s why I’ve teamed up with Reynold’s Nonstick Foil as an ambassador this year. I want faster, easier cooking AND cleanup because my kids are getting older and I don’t want to regret a loss of moments.

Did You Know You Can Create Time?

I wish I’d know that time is a creation of my own hands years ago. Time is created when you say no to the unnecessary which gives place to the everything.

Time is created in eyes and hands. The little dimpled one that slips into yours and you choose to hold on a little longer, crouching down to look into those tiny eyes and take it all in.

Time is nothing but choices, over and over, you and them. There’s always enough for now when you seek out the things that matter and put away those that don’t.

Maybe not everyone is a cook or a baker, maybe the kitchen feels like a bit much to tackle, but what if I promised that one little recipe, strings of an apron tied around a little one and clattering bowls could create something spectacular on your string of life?

Cranberry Orange Pull Apart Bread

Years ago our friend made us a cream cheese version of this easy cranberry orange pull apart bread for breakfast one morning and when I found myself with all of the ingredients but the cream cheese I threw caution to the wind and made it anyway. We’ve never missed that cream cheese, but ohhhhh how I wish you could have heard our daughter who, for the very first time, dipped and placed dough ball after dough ball into the pan. How can I even remember that sound and the joy on her face? Because I created time and that’s mine forever.

What Do I Need to Make Bubble Bread (Monkey Bread)

(Pssst, did you know Reynold’s Wrap promises Easy Prep, Easy Cook, Easy Clean which gets you more time with family? Hmmm, suddenly makes total sense why we chose to sign on as an ambassador huh?)

How to Make Orange Bubble Pull Apart

  1. This is one of those recipes that is totally dependent on the prep work. Start off by lining a 3 QT casserole dish (basically a 9×13 but isn’t this even prettier in a casserole dish?) with Reynold’s Nonstick Foil.
  2. Thaw the bread dough and then cut into quarters.
  3. Roll in butter and then sugar mixture.
  4. Sprinkle Craisins
  5. Bake
  6. Create and drizzle the glaze all over and enjoy with bacon, scrambled eggs and your sweet family!

Ps, did you know that because we love the recipe so much it inspired us to create our Orange Cinnamon Butterflake Rolls?  So yum and you should for sure try that one too!

Can I Use Nonstick Spray Instead of Foil?

The way this specific foil is made completely cuts out the need for pan spray which is important because the excess grease actually can lead to a more oily and soggy end result. Nonstick spray just does not bring the same results in my opinion.

Did you Know That…

  • Nonstick Foil-Reynolds Wrap® is high quality and safe to use for cooking, making the foil my go-to in the kitchen. Like, you’d have a heart attack if you saw my stock pile. Then again, remember the great toilet paper crises? Hmmm, not so crazy now am I? I’ll see you on my front porch should you need me later.
  • Nonstick foil acts as a barrier to the crystalized sugar. Lining the casserole pan in Reynolds Wrap nonstick Foil ensures that no sugars will caramelize and bake onto the pan thus creating a bitter and crusty bread bottom and is essential to a perfect bake.
  • The new package now is easier to open as well, and has a tab that keeps the box fully closed for storing after use.
  • Final bonus? They’ve color coded the packaging. The new color-coded look also makes it easier to find the product in the aisle.

The Secret to Citrus Flavor without Adding Liquid

Have you ever had to add citrus flavor like lime, lemon or orange but it starts to change the product because of all the liquid you’re adding? Oh it’s so annoying! Think cookies for example. You want to make key lime cookies but just can’t get that flavor right.

Make a zest sugar.

When you add zest to  sugar you’ll begin to really add flavor since the oils of the peel pack great flavor enhancers. However, that’s not the end. Instead of stirring your zest into the sugar try getting your hands in there and rubbing the zest with the sugar between your fingers. You’ll open up the smells and tastes of the fruit even more. That’s the secret to this bread. You’ll love that it smells like an orange orchard!

Serving a Crowd

When I’m serving a crowd I prefer to cut the bread dough. I’ll choose to do them in halves or even quarters. The smaller “bubbles” of bread make everyone feel like they are taking more food but you never had to cook more.

Other Variations

Try Lemon zest and lemon glaze

Add cinnamon sugar with the orange zest

Ingredients

  • Reynold's Wrap Nonstick Foil
  • 24 Frozen Rhodes Rolls
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • Zest of 3 Oranges
  • 1/3 cup Butter melted
  • 1/3 Cup Craisins

For the Glaze

  • 1 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Orange Zest from a 4th orange
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Line a 9x13" dish with Reynold's nonstick foil. Or for taller bread, we like to use an 8x11".
  • Allow for the dough to thaw in a foil lined pan covered with greased plastic wrap. If you are going to cut them, this is the point to do halves or quarters. Quarters are better when feeding a crowd.
  • In a small dish, melt butter.
  • In another small dish, combine the sugar and zest the 3 oranges.
  • Drizzle a little butter in the bottom of the pan and sprinkle with a little sugar. Add the bread balls in one layer. Drizzle a little butter and sugar again. Finish with your final bread, butter and sugar.
  • Sprinkle the dough all over with the craisins. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or let rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until doubled in size. If you truly let it rise they will get big like rolls, but in a hurry it's ok to move forward even if they haven't doubled. I use the proof setting on my oven to go faster.
  • Remove the rolls from the fridge to sit on the counter if you started them overnight while the oven heats to 350 degrees.
  • Bake at 350* for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through. I like to tent mine with more Nonstick foil the last 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the glaze.
  • Remove the bread from the oven and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Drizzle with glaze and enjoy!

Glaze

  • Mix powdered sugar, orange juice, zest of 1 large orange, and extracts together until smooth. Drizzle all over the hot rolls so it melts into them.

Notes

reheat in 250 degree oven with more nonstick foil over the top.
